11 Eyes

Anime: 11 Eyes
Type: Fantasy, Action, Romance
Episodes: 1-12
My Rating: 8.5 out of 10
My Grade: B+

Looking at the title cover made me want to watch this. It wasn't that great, it wasn't bad. I was satisfied with the series.

The story starts out really well and shows real promise. The main characters are gathered together for the first half of the series. After that the real action starts to begin. The battle scenes are really well done. The storyline is pretty sturdy. The buildup for character development is seen throughout and well laid out. The ending, however, might not be what people expected. Personally, I thought the ending could have been better. Let a tragedy be a tragedy, and a happy ending be a happy one. The end is where I think the authors just twisted up the story a lot. The story is awesome, but the ending just ruins the flow of it.

Basic Story:
Six high school kids are brought into the world of Red Night. There they must fend for their lives against the Black Knights and their army of monsters. The world of Red Night suddenly takes them away and suddenly takes them back. The black moon shines in the eyes of these six children as they try to stay alive. What lies in the world of Red Night? Why are they the ones being dragged into this world? Who is the mysterious girl who is locked within the red crystal pillar?

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Anime: To Aru Majutsu no Index
Type: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Action
Episodes: 1 - 24
My Rating: 9.8 out of 10
My Grade: A+

I managed to get through this anime series during the beginning of my Winter Break and loved it. It's my newest most favorite anime ever. I totally love it! ^0^

This anime starts out with a slow prologue where it introduces the two main characters of the series and how they met. You also get a good look at the story setting and some good info to keep in mind. Unlike most long prologues, this one builds up a good storyline and also brings the audience into interest. Throughout the series, you will see the author's hard work and research done for this series. There are many references used throughout from religion and science. The battles are well constructed and calls for a more tactical planning rather than sheer brute force, which makes the battles a bit more realistic. (Eat Your Heart Out DBZ!) The storyline, overall, flows very smoothly and is very understandable, though you might need to go over some concepts that are explained in the anime. The storyline is full of twists and surprises that you might not expect and keeps you wondering. I love this series! I highly recommend it!

Basic Story:
This story takes place in the advanced scientific city, Academy City. Academy City is a place where espers are trained and taught and also a place where technological advancements are discovered. Touma is a high school boy full of misfortune, but his right arm has the power to negate any supernatural power, even a miracle from God. He struggles to fit into life in the city.

One day, Touma finds a nun outside his porch and takes her in. Her name is Index, and she is trying to run away from the world of magic. Touma does not believe her story at first, but after being attacked by two magicians, he knows he has to protect
Index, who possesses the knowledge of 103,000 grimoires of forbidden magical arts. Is his right arm enough to stop the assault of magicians who are after Index?

BONUS! Personal Info:
My Favorite Character: Index, the main heroine/princess. She's a cute, carefree nun. Despite her childlike appearance and attitude, she's really a kind and caring girl under the Name of God. Even though there are times where she "accidentally" breaks the rules or be a bit selfish, she always stands by her friends, no matter what.
My Favorite Scenes: Well, I have to say some of my favorite scenes are when Index has some of her dramatic comedy moments. I also love some of the battles that take place throughout the series. They are just mind-blowing. My most favorite scene would be... (sorry, it's kind of a spoiler -.-)
My Favorite Weaponry/Ability: It's actually hard to choose because of the many abilities that are shown in the series and seeing how each are used so skillfully. But if I had to choose, personally, I would probably choose St. George's Sanctuary, because of its Dragon's Breath ability.

Kanokon

Anime: Kanokon
Type: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Episodes: 1 - 12
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

This is the most explicitly sexual anime that is actually not for 18+. I was so surprised throughout the whole anime. If it wasn't for certain censors, it would have been for 18+.

The story starts up like any romance anime. It starts out with their first meeting. After the intro, we skip directly to confession. After that, we end up on a crazy storyline with lots of comedy and sexual themes. It is a guarantee that you will be laughing really hard. Despite all the comic and sexual themes and events that happens throughout the series, they manage to keep a solid storyline in the series. You will realize it when you reach towards the end of the series. I recommend this series if you like erotic or funny series, mostly erotic. ^-^

Basic Story:
Kouta has moved from the countryside to the big city for high school. On the first day of school, he meets a mysterious girl, Chizuru, who is infatuated by him. She soon confesses her feelings for Kouta, but she also accidentally lets out a secret that she has. Kouta is soon dragged into a crazy love adventure with Chizuru. Who is Chizuru exactly? Why does she love Kouta so much? What's the secret she hides from the other students?

(This series is for 17+!)

Kampfer

Anime: Kampfer
Type: Fantasy, Action, Comedy
Episodes: 1 - 12
My Rating: 9 out of 10
My Grade: A-

One of the newest animes to have come out during the year. I have been following it, and it finally finished. It was a great series, and I also hope for 2nd season of it!

This series have a bit of a rough start but also a bit funny as well. It might take you a while to get adjusted to the storyline, but once you do, you will start to like it a lot. This series is filled with lots of great action battle scenes and also a lot of comedy to match up with the action. You meet up with some of the weirdest but very lovable characters in this series. You will also get a big dose of "fan-service". It wouldn't be such a great anime without some great costumes for the characters to wear. This series is enjoyable and will give you action that will keep you in suspense and comedy that will make you laugh to death.

Basic Story:

Natsuru, a normal high school boy, wakes up as a girl one day. He finds out he had become an advanced fighter known as Kampfer. Kampfer's have incredible powers that range in the arts of magic, sword, and gunnery, but in order to use these powers they are required to have the body of a female. Will Natsuru be able to survive the powers of the other Kampfers? How will he be able to confess his love to the girl he loves?

Love Hina

Anime: Love Hina
Type: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Episodes: 1 - 24
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

To me, this anime is one of the best classics. It is probably where all new-gen anime took it from. You can probably find a lot of elements in it very similar to some of the new anime coming out now. anyways, I was just watching it again and decided to write a review on it to show some respect for it.

The series start out really hilariously and gives the anime series a cheerful start. Right afterwards, they start to gather the main cast together and kick in some drama with it. Right after that, they start to bring up more colorful characters and also bring up really funny scenarios that the characters go through. Despite their sea of romantic comedy genius, they manage to keep the storyline interesting and not stray too far from the story. They even manage to put drama where it's supposed to be. Overall, it's a very good series to watch.

Basic Story:

Keitaro had made a promise to a girl 15 years ago to make it to Tokyo U college. To this present day, he had failed to get in not only once, but twice. But he is so determined to get in and fulfill his childhood promise. Being broke and jobless, doesn't help his situation, nevertheless. Luckily, his grandmother had decided to make him manager of the Hinata Apartments while she enjoys an around-the-world trip. When he arrives, he finds out that it has become an all-girls dorm. Will the girls accept a man as their manager? What kind of adventures will Keitaro go through? Will he be able to find the girl he made the promise with 15 years ago?

Ef -a Tale of Memories-

Anime: Ef - a Tale of Memories -
Type: School-life, Drama, Romance
Episodes: 1 - 12
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

After looking around for another series, I ran across this one. I was a bit pulled in from the beginning then I got addicted to it. I loved the storyline and the characters. It was one unique anime.

The beginning is a bit confusing at first, but it clears up after you get to the 2nd episode. One of the notable things you see throughout this series is their use of unique visual effects throughout the series. They often use this to portray some of the symbolic things they are showing from the series. The story often switches between the pairs of main characters, which makes it a little hard to keep track, but it all will be tied together in the end. The series have a nice little touch of fantasy to it, which gives it a nice feel when you watch it. The storyline is like no other. It really makes a lot of twists and turns and gets you thinking. Their use of symbolism, visual effects, and a very amazing storyline made this a very great anime series.

Basic Story:

Hiro is stuck between his school work and his secret career as a manga artist for a magazine. On a fateful Christmas night, he runs into a girl, Miyako, who takes his bike. After chasing her down, Hiro and Miyako decided just to hang around with each other for the night. The next day, they found out they were went to the same school and were in the same year, just different classes. Kei, a childhood friend of Hiro, starts to feel jealousy in her heart. Who will Hiro choose in the end?

Kyosuke is trying to look for that spark of inspiration in his filming career. He soon finds himself lost until he catches eye of a girl on Christmas night. He tries to get a picture of her but is unable to due to a passing truck. Soon, he finds her at his school and becomes infatuated with her. Will he find that spark of inspiration he longed for or also something more?

While going to an abandoned train station to read his book, Renji runs across a girl who already arrived their. After leaving and returning to the same spot the next day, he gets a chance to sit down with the girl, Chihiro, and befriend her. Unfortunately, Chihiro has a dark secret that explains the reason for her eye patch and the reason she is always there. Will she be able to tell him about this secret? Will he be able to bear the pain of hearing it?

[Note: The series will switch between these three stories and might make it a bit confusing. This series is recommended for audiences age 17+]

Pandora Hearts

Anime: Pandora Hearts
Type: Fantasy, Adventure, Action
Episodes: 1 - 25
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

After to listening to the Official Soundtrack of this anime, I got interested and started watching it. It turned out to be as good as its BGMs. ^-^

The beginning of the whole series is a bit slow to go through, but it manages to properly introduces you to the storyline ahead. As you progress through the series, the story slowly is pieced together for you. Besides the amazing storyline and hilarious comic relief scenes, they offer a very bright and colorful cast of characters that are well-made and are quite unique. You will enjoy how the story progresses. You will be kept in suspense by the countless cliffhangers placed throughout the series. You will grow very fond of the charcaters. This is a really good anime, highly recommended.

Basic Story:

Yoku Wakaru Gandai Mahou

Anime: Yoku Wakaru Gandai Mahou
Type: Fantasy, Action, Comedy
Episodes: 1 - 12 + OVA Special
My Rating: 9 out of 10
My Grade: A-

This is one of the new anime series that I checked out over the summer break. It was a short yet very enjoyable series. Let's go to the review! ^-^

It starts out with a nice little look ahead into the series. Even though they went ahead a bit from the actual beginning of the anime series at the start, they did really well to keep you in suspense and does not give out to much info that might spoil some things coming up in the anime series itself. After the 1st episode, they jump into the actual beginning of the storyline and progresses pretty quickly from there. They manage to put a pretty good storyline into such a short package. Throughout the storyline, they manage to stick in pieces of info that you need to understand what goes on in the anime and also throw in a few comic relief into the mix. Overall, it's a really awesome anime to watch and is pretty short.

Basic Story:

Koyomi is an average high school girl who is a bit care-free. She runs across an old advertisement for an old magic academy, the Anehara Cross Magic Academy. She hopes to able to change herself for the better. She soon discovers her amazing ability to summon wash pans and also the ability to dispel magic. She meets with Anehara Misa, the greatest Modern-Day Mage. She also meets, Yumiko Ichinose, one of the strongest mages in the world. What will she find out about these two great magicians? Will she be able to harness the power of magic?

Forbidden Love

Most anime romances series in their originals forms were either a light novel or an H- Game*. There is some sexual themes that can be sometimes throughout the series, whether it be for comedy or to strengthen the storyline. Now, of course there have been things cut out before they started airing it on TV. (Some people might not know this: Japan is probably the strictest country when it comes to censoring.)

One thing you often come across in these romance storylines is a possibility of the main character to make the decision of forbidden love. The character often associated with this is usually the main character's cousin, half-sibling, or maybe even blood-related sibling. Now, since this is fiction, it does not trouble me that much that there is that possibility. (It usually does not end up that way in the anime anyways.)

I have to say after seeing an actual anime series that actually ended with the main character choosing the sibling over the others. I did not find it that bad, probably because his sister played a big role in the series. The main character obviously can have such a relationship in the story. But I take it as that love can sometimes go beyond the lines of being siblings. If I actually saw it it real life, I would probably freak out.(Note: I will not name the anime that I watched here, for the sake of not spoiling it.) I like the thought of forbidden love a bit. To me it's the unexpected but yet expected.

*H-Game: Hentai Game, adult anime sim-dating games, known for it's well drawn characters and backgrounds and also for its explicit sex scenes. In these games the main character (played by you) goes through the storyline while making decisions that affect the whole game and also the result you end up with.

Doujin Work

Anime: Doujin Work
Type: Comedy, Ecchi
Episodes: 1 - 12 (15 minutes each)
My Rating: 9 out of 10
My Grade: A-

Well, I was at the book store the other day. While looking through the manga section, I found the manga for the series, Doujin Work, and it also came with a DVD with the firat few episodes on it. I got interested in the storyline and watched it. It was a very entertaining series. A nice series to watch once in a while, short and sweet.

Not really much to say about the anime. It starts out really well with a nice ecchi joke which might make you turn very red in the face or laugh your pants off. The storyline goes on smoothly despite the short episode times. The titles of each episode are really funny to read too. This series could be used as some kind of thing to see who has a dirty mind or not. Despite the title, you won't really be seeing any doujin face-front in the series itself, but you do get a few glimpses at some of the concepts of them. Anyways, really good series to watch if you want a really good laugh.

Basic Story:
Najimi is invited by her classmate, Tsuyuri, to a Doujin Convention. At the convention najimi experiences a culture shock about doujin and anime. She is then influenced by her childhood friend and famous doujin author, Justice, (and money) to take on the doujin business. She proclaims that she will prevail in the path of doujin. But she is not very good at drawing (she actually sucks...). Despite the disadvantage she has, she is determined to make success. On that path she will meet both fans and rivals. Will she be able to make it through?

Note: Doujin means fan-made anime and manga. These have been known to be mostly perverted and are only suited for those 18+. (The themes are mostly porn.)

Don't worry! The series can be watched by those 16+. (^-^)

Type: School-life, Romance, Drama

My Rating: 10 out of 10
My Grade: A+

Well, I was getting my hand into a new type of anime and thought this would be an interesting series to watch. I ended up loving it a lot. It is my 5th most favorite anime! ^-^

The story starts out with a confrontation of the main guy and the main girl. A small greeting from each other starts off this amazing series. For the first part of the series you will get a whole bunch of laughs and meet the whole cast of colorful and unique characters. You get to see the exciting and fun parts of school life. Jigoku Shoujo

Anime: Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)
Type: Horror, Mystery, Drama
Episodes: 1-26 (3 seasons)
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

Well, I was looking for a good horror series to watch because I wanted a little variety of anime I watched. I ran across this one because I heard it was a really good horror anime to watch. I watched it and loved it! ^-^

Now, most horror genre things usually have cruel killing and some very scary images too. This one doesn't do it that much. Actually, some things are a bit laughable in the series. Anyways, the series takes you into a numerous amount of everyday life situations, which helps you kinda get a feeling into the story. It's really realistic. This series digs deep into the lives of the people and boggles your mind on who's good or not. Every episode sends at least one character to Hell, whether they be bad or good. This series has a lot of surprising twists and brings the term of evil to a new level.

Basic Story:

Do you desire Vengeance upon your enemies? Access the Hell Correspondence Website at Midnight. Type in the Name of your Enemy and click Enter. Hell Girl will come to you with a Straw Doll with a Red String tied around its Neck. Pull the String to send your Protagonist directly to Hell.
BUT!!! "When one person is cursed, two graves are dug."
If you send them directly to Hell, you will also end up in Hell as well... that is only after you die.

What is your choice? Does your anger burn that greatly? Is your love for someone that strong? Is it really worth it? Make your Choice. Pull the String or Not?

Toradora!

Anime: Toradora
Type: Romance, Comedy, Drama
Episodes: 1 - 25 + SOS Special
My Rating: 8.5 out of 10
My Grade: B+

Well, after I finished Kaze no Stigma, I needed to find something to strike a good laugh in me. I then ran across this anime series. After listening to the very addicting 1st opening to this series, I decided to go watch it! ^.^

This series has an interesting couple as the main characters of the series. Of course they are your usual guy and his best friend and the girl and her best friend. But they decided to put a little twist to this series. The main guy and girl of the series are not the type of people you would like to go meet at first glance. And to add to the twist, the guy loves her best friend, and the girl loves his best friend. The series goes on with them trying to help each other get the person they want. This series introduces a lot of comedy but also a good amount of drama to balance it.
Overall, this series is a good romance, comedy to watch. ^.^

Basic Story:

Ryuugi is feared because of the way he looked. Despite his scary appearance, he has a heart of gold. During his first day of a new school year, he ecounters Taiga, a girl feared for her insane strength but is small than the average person. Her nickname is the Palm-Top Tiger. After a confusion of confessions and love letters, they finally reach a truce to stick together and help each get the person they love. Can this alliance between these two bring a happy ending?

Problems with English Dub 3

This will be the final segment of "Problems with English Dub". For a change, I will like to give a little credit to some of the few people who do a pretty descent job at making an English dub for anime.

Now, I've tried to do some voice acting on my own a bit. It's actually a little harder than it seems. You really have to had trained your voice to put in that kind of emotion into the voice you're doing. After an hour at it, I lost my voice. (-.-)You practically had to shout to express such emotion, not easy at all. (>.<)

Well, I'd like to thank some of the people for giving actually good English Dub. I have to say not all English Dub anime have bad dubbing. In fact there are some that could be mistaken for the original. (What I mean by this is that if no-one heard the Japanese Dub of the anime they would be almost as satisfied with that English Dub.)

You can't really blame the voice actors for not being able to do it like the Japanese do. They are not able to reproduce that accent they have and express the emotion of the characters that far, but they are able to portray what actually is happening. They are doing a pretty good job! (^-^)

Note: I think English Dub is O.K.! Unless it really mutilates the original storyline and does not portray the emotions that are supposed to be shown.

Kaze no Stigma

Anime: Kaze no Stigma
Type: Action, Fantasy, Romance

Well, after for so long of waiting, I was finally able to watch this anime. I have to say it was worth the wait I had to endure. I found this anime as a recommendation to me, so I thought I would check it out. It was great! ^.^

This series gives you a nice beginning plot that slowly unfolds as the series progresses. As you pass each episode you learn more of the past and lives of the main characters and get a better understanding of who they are. This series also bring up some amazing fight scenes and unique warriors into the battlefield. But they manage to stick in a few jokes while beating down some demon butt.

Shuffle!

Anime: Shuffle!
Type: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy, Drama
Episodes: 1 - 24
My Rating: 9.5 out of 10
My Grade: A

Well, I've actually had my eye on this anime for a while and finally got down to watching it. Though it was kinda rough getting through it because I couldn't get my hands on a few episodes I needed, I finally finished it! ^.^

The first episode gives you a little introduction into the main guy's life. After half-way through the first episode, you get a proper introduction to the rest of the main characters. Though it is kinda rough getting through the first episode, it gets way better from then on. For the first half of the series, it is all a fun romance comedy competition for the main guy. During this time you get the basic outlook of each character. But the second half is when it gets very serious. It will mess with emotions and even your first thoughts of the characters. The second half focuses on the deeper personalities of the characters. It is when the drama drops upon your head like a bomb. You will laugh. You will cry. You will love this anime!!

Basic Story:

Problems with English Dub 2

English dub has ruined the name of anime ever since it first started. Why can't America deal with subs like the rest of the world? Has their pride blinded their senses? Anyways, this section's subject will be on the quality of dubbing between the Japanese and the English.

One of the many things that make anime look bad in America is the bad dubbing they do. The voice actors don't really bring out as much expression as they should. A regualar yell of pain is replaced with a simple "Ouch, that hurt.". There is also the issue of matching the words to the mouth of the characters being played. You can sometimes see that the character's mouth and words in english dub do not exactly sync with each other.

I believe one of the reasons that english dub is bad is that America tries to aim most anime towards an audience of children. I guess the voice actors did not feel to well motivated in their roles. I think most of the voice actors are just there for some money. When will the US Anime Studios realize they should hire real voice actors to do the job? They know anime is murdering US Animation/Cartoons. Why not just give anime the credit it deserves? If the US wants an English Dubbed Version of Anime, why can't they just hire some voice actors who are actually skilled?

Gift - Eternal Rainbow

Anime: Gift - Eternal Rainbow-Life
Type: Fantasy, Romance, Drama
Episodes: 1 - 12 + OVA
My Rating: 4 out of 5
My Grade: A-

Well, my friend just got into anime, and this was on his list of what he wanted to watch. I thought since it was a small series I would check it out as a break from some of the bigger anime series I have been watching. It was a pretty good one.

The start of the series is a nice classic flashback of the past of the main guy of the story. It gets off with a bit of a rough start. But despite that, it manages to introduce each character into the series throughout the 1st episode. From then on, until the last half, it has its funny moments but keeps to the storyline. I kind of felt they could have added more to the storyline but didn't want to stray too far from the main part. It is a short series worth watching. Not the greatest romance anime out there but well worth the time.

Basic Story:

In the town where an eternal rainbow hangs overhead, the people have an ability to grant one wish in their life time, but for this to work two hearts have to become one. This ability came to be known as Gift, for there is a Giver and a Receiver. Haruhiko is put into an emotional struggle once his foster sister, Riko, returns to town after many years of being apart.

Kanon 2006

Anime: Kanon 2006
Type: Drama, Fantasy, Romance
Episodes: 1 - 24
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Grade: A

Well, I got interested into this type of an.ime and found this one and heard it was really good. I started to watch it and did not regret a second of watching it. I just simply loved this series till the end.

The series gets off at a good start. While all the characters take their places in the storyline, the series entertain you with some good comedy till the real story begins. It will start after the first few episodes. You will notice the shift of focus between the main characters. At this point the series slowly gets serious. One warning I must give you is that make sure you are prepared for the emotional scenes in the series. They are guaranteed to pull the strings of your heart and make you burst out tears. (Tissues should be near by when this happens. >.<) This series really delivers a nice story with a whole lots of twists and turns that will have you have seconds thoughts. This series is a absolute must-see for fans of romance and drama. ^.^

Basic Story:

Yuuichi comes back to the town he once known so well seven years ago for high school, but his memory is a bit foggy. He is living with his cousin, Nayuki, and his aunt, Akiko. In this snowy city, Yuuichi is going to go through a trip through memory lane and try to solve the mysteries that surround it.

Main-Stream Anime

What is Main-Stream Anime?
Main-Stream Anime are Anime series that are very well-known. Naruto, One-Piece, Dragonball Z, Pokemon, and Bleach are examples of these kinds of series.

I have to say most of these series only start out really good. But it will go downhill after they pass like... EPISODE 80 or 100!!! I know the series is good, but making the series go on till infinity is just too far. The methods they go to are just way too far.

I have to say the root of these never-die methods is the Dragonball series. Goku just keeps on coming back and getting more powerful and powerful until it is just ridiculous. One-Piece has their heroes just rising up from the death unharmed. Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach has that Hollow Mask. What's next for him, an ultimate Hollow Mask?

Kara no Kyoukai -Garden of Sinners-

Anime: Kara no Kyouai -Garden of Sinners-
Type: Fantasy, Mystery, Horror
Episodes: 1-7 (Movies)
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Grade: A

While searching around the internet for a new anime series to watch, I stumbled upon this series. After watching a trailer for the 1st episode for this anime, I got interested in it and started to watch it. It is now my 2nd most favorite anime series. This series is unique because its episodes are in the forms of movies. Make sure to have some popcorn or snacks while watching these because they range from the times 40 minutes - 2 hours.

Now, I'd like to say it really keeps its title of being a mystery series because the episodes actually skip from one time period to another, but all are crucial to the story. At the beginning and the end of the episodes they always state the title of the episode and the date it takes place. If you are watching this series, make sure you know the episodes chronologically so you don't lose your place. This series is full of suspense and spectacular battle scenes. It is a recommended series for those who love a good mystery and action.
(Warning: This series has blood and gore, nudity, and cruel violence.)
(Recommended for audiences 16+)

Basic Story:
This story revolves around Ryougi Shiki. After an accident two years ago, she has been able to see the very fabrication of life, the Lines of Death, in all of creation. Armed with a knife able to sever these lines, Shiki hunts down monsters and lives at the border of the natural world and the supernatural world.

Problems with English Dub 1

I have been thinking about it for a while. English dub really does not compare to the original Japanese dub, so much that it is merely a waste of time. In this section I will discuss one of the main problems of English dub. The problem for this section will be how English dub downgrades the actual anime itself (very important).

Now, the main thing I would like to point out is that some anime are put in America as kid's shows. Pokemon is understandable, even though they did edit a bit much in there (for another section). But how about the anime series like One Piece and Naruto. FACT!!! Naruto and One Piece were not originally for kids. They were for Young Teens. America just steps in and takes these anime series and downgrade them for a younger audience. >.< That is not right. That is a horrible thing to do to a popular TV show, even if it is imported (*ahem* AMERICANS *ahem*).

Even worse, they try to make the dialogue more kid-friendly... Not just "Damn!" to "Dang!". But entire dialogues are being remodified and replaced by horrible puns and punch lines, rather than just say "I'm gonna kick your ass!" or "Die!!!" they say "Hyah! Slice and Dice!" or "I'll snap you in two!". That just keeps the true feeling of anime away from American viewers.

Don't you think that is why most people don't like anime? Most people don't like anime because they think it is childish and stupid, though there are a few exceptions. That is only because they are listening to the English dub, which is not only translating but editing the original words of the original dub of the anime. If people weren't so lazy and could deal with the English subs, there would be more people who would like anime. Japanese dub just shows that most anime are not as dull and stupid as the English dub displayed them to be.

> To people who are interested in anime, I would like to try this little thing. Take the 1st episode of an anime series already in English dub (I would prefer the anime series Code Geass for this.) and listen to its English dub first and then compare it to English subs and Japanese dub.

> For those who can't deal with reading and watching the anime series (*cough* lazy), try comparing the manga series of the anime to the actual anime (I prefer Naruto for this one.) The manga is less edited than the anime and you should see some differences.

That's all for now! Next time, I will talk about which voice actors are better.

Anime: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Episodes: 1 - 27 + Movie
My Rating: 5 out of 5

First, I'd like to thank my friend, Juan, for introducing me to this series and making me watch it. It is really worth watching. Anyone would be blown away by what happens in the series. It is now my 3rd Most Favorite anime. I couldn't get to it for a while due to other things and other anime series. But I finally finished it, and I am now satisfied.

This series gives you a nice intro to the storyline of the series. For the first few episodes, you'll be hooked onto it for a while. But it does get boring for a few episodes. But once your reach episodes 7-8, your spirits will be rekindled for the series! That's not all. Around episodes 10-11, the series just rockets to the best of the best and goes beyond that! Though I am saying this stuff, I am not saying you should skip (DON"T YOU DARE SKIP ANY EPISODES). The series continues to get better and better till it reaches the end! This anime is guaranteed to have you addicted to it and wanting more! Any action, mecha anime fan would be satisfied with this anime series.

Negima!?

Anime: Negima!?
Type: Magical, Adventure, Comedy
Episodes: 1- 26
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Grade: A

I started from the manga and then got into the anime for this one. From the same person who gave you Love Hina, comes another ecchi, comedy series. The reason I checked out the series is because of the name of the author. I did not regret it. Then I started to watch the anime series they put up for it. (Note: Unlike most anime, this one actually only takes some things from the manga. The anime is another story itself.)

It gives you a good opening to the series. It draws your interest into it a bit. But the real action begins when the magic starts flowing through the air. It becomes a long enjoyable adventure with the characters. This series has the one of the biggest cast of main characters. They do not even leave a character behind from the spotlight. All of them get to have their little moment in the series. The series also shows how each of the characters' roles interact with one another. On top of that, they manage to throw in a good amount of comedy into the fray. It is guaranteed a very laughable series. Despite all these things, the battle scenes still retain the suspense and thrill you would expect. This is a highly recommended series.

Basic Story (for the Anime, not the Manga):
Prologue
Years ago, a man, known as the Thousand Master, fought the great vampire, Evangeline. In a great battle, the Thousand Master defeated the dreadful vampire. Upon defeating her, he sealed her powers.
Actual Story
Today, Negi Springfield, the descendant of the Thousand Master, graduated from the Magical Academy at the age of 10. He is assigned to be a school teacher at an all-girls school. How will Negi deal with this? Will he be able to survive the wave of junior high school girls? What awaits him in this school? Find out by watching Negima!?

Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito

Anime: Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito
Type: Fantasy, Adventure, Romance
Episodes: 1 - 13
My Rating: 4 out of 5
My Grade: B+

Well, I finished this anime about a week ago. I liked it. Though I cannot give it a better grade because of a few minor things they do in the series. I have to say for a not-so-well known anime, it was pretty good. I got interested in it after I saw a short video on it on Youtube. I thought I would take a little break and watch this short series.

Now, onto the review!! It starts out pretty basic for an anime storyline, but they expanded upon that and made it a pretty enjoyable series. It had a good amount of comedy in it to balance out the boring scenes. They also have some suspense in it too. The only problem they have is that they do not explain some things in the series. You probably need to research the info yourself to understand the series closely. The info is not that necessary, but it does explain some things in the series. Throughout the series you need to pay attention to important info that comes up, because they do switch between different scenarios quite a bit and gets a bit confusing. Once you get towards the end, everything should be much very clear to you.

Basic Story:
In the beginning, Adam with the help of Ririsu created many worlds. Then Adam and Eve created humans who would inhabit these worlds. But soon powerful beings, known as gods, came and brought war upon these worlds. In order to protect his creations, he sealed the worlds into books and placed them in the Great Library. Thus Yami, the Protector, was born...

Hatsuki and Hatsumi were very close sisters. But the night before Hatsumi's 16th birthday, they got into a fight. Hatsuki goes up at midnight to apologize to Hatsumi but only to find her taken up by a mysterious light. A mysterious bird arrives and leads Hatsuki to where Hatsumi probably is. Hatsuki is soon taken into a journey through many worlds in search for her sister.

Anime Fan Art

Lots of people, who are artists themselves, can't resist drawing their favorite anime characters in their own little scenarios. What if the main guy went for another girl? What was the story like from the villain's point of view? Any hard-core fan would want to know such a thing. What's stopping those who can draw from helping with those questions?

I like doing fan art a bit myself though not such big projects as said above. Most fan art materials are often romance between possible couples in the specific series. Some are just little comedy scenarios. Some are just re-adjusting the character's outfit. My fan-art is often just the character in different outfits and with weapons.
My reason for doing fan art is to practice designing and getting down my ideas.

Anyways, some fan art are well done or done well in different drawing styles. Some fan art material are just horrible. But! It's not all quality of the artwork. You must also consider some of the scenarios used in the art. Though some are funny and cute, there are those that are just disturbing and gross. I am not totally opposed to fan art, but some people really let their imaginations go wild.

Elemental Gelade

Anime: Elemental Gelade (Jap: Erementar Gerad)
Type: Fantasy, Adventure, Romance
Episodes: 1 - 26
My Rating: 5 out of 5
My Grade: A

This is one of the first anime series I watched when I got really into anime. I saw the opening of it in an anime store and asked what the name was. I looked it up and watched the first two episodes online, loved it, and searched for the DVDs (until I found the box set with the whole series in it).

As I said before, it had a very well done intro to the series. It always makes you wonder what's gonna happen next at almost every end of the episode. The action and the drama were really well done. They often put in comic relief where it's needed to keep the story interesting and fun. It's full of surprises and twists that just leap out at you. While watching the series, you will be put in a long cycle of suspense and wanting to watch more and more until the end. This anime is my 2nd most favorite anime series.

Basic Story:
Cou is a sky pirate who dreamed to be the best there was. Despite his pride and ambition, he is a failure as a sky pirate. He then stumbles upon a mysterious girl, Reverie Metherlence, the Shickohoujo. She seeks to find her way back to a place called, Edel Garden. Cou offers to escort her there but soon finds himself protecting the girl with his life. Why is this girl so important? What secrets lies in Edel Garden?

Live-Action Anime

One of the many things that sound good in the world of anime. Why wouldn't you want to see your anime heroes in real life? Most people would probably wet their pants at the sight of them right in front of them shaking their hands. It would a dream come true if you could meet your favorite anime character face-to-face.

Unfortunately, this fantasy turned into a series of disasters. From to the drawing board to real life, actors take the form of the anime characters we know and love and act out some of the famous scenes from the anime. These produxts can only be found on the big screen and on DVD.

I have to say most of the live-action movies are just ridiculous. Many of the things in the movie look really fake. The props and costume look really fake on the actors. The actors sometimes don't look alike enough to be anime counterparts. Despite these mistakes, there are some live-action movies that are really well acted and casted, though some of the props still look fake. I guess the reason is that we are just to used to anime being animated not being acted out by actors on a movie set. Overall, I think that live-action movies are alright but can never beat the original animated series. Some live-action movies could be great if they could get their hands on some good directors and actors. (I don't mind the props looking fake as much, but they could improve more on that.)

Re-Watching Anime

Why is it so hard? I want to re-watch my favorite series, but it's too hard for me to keep on track. I loved going through it the first time through the series. But it's too hard to go through it again. I get side-tracked and suddenly switch to another series.

I guess I am getting side-tracked easily because I already know what is going to happen and would rather skip to the good parts. Also, checking out new anime series is not helping either. It happens pretty slowly. At first, I enjoy re-watching the series, but once I pass a few episodes, I start getting side-tracked by something else (video games, friends, or new anime series). In conclusion, I am just bored with going through the whole series again. It's kind of hard not to want to skip to the exciting parts. -///-

Yaoi and Yuri

Romance is a great genre of anime. It is where the guy saves the girl or the girl gets the guy. But not all romance stories are like that.

Yaoi: a term used to describe a MaleXMale anime series
Yuri: a term used to describe a FemaleXFemale anime series

Now, I think these type of series are a bit disgusting and wrong. But... I actually found out I do watch them. (I didn't find out till the kiss happens) I do not these kind of series for the romance that takes place between the main characters but for the storyline that is seen through the series. I learned to tolerate the romance parts in these type of series but still do not approve of these kind of things happening in real life.

In the world of anime, these genres of anime is accepted as well as the rest of them. It has it's own fan-bases with tons of fans in them. To me I think Yuri is a bit more popular and the more accepted than Yaoi. Yaoi is still looked down upon a bit but is still read and enjoyed by many. These genres of anime may sound bad, but they have some good storylines. (I'm not talking the fan-made ones...)

K-On

Anime - K-On
Type: School-Life, Comedy
Episodes: 1-12 + 1 extra episode
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
My Grade: A

I was planning to watch this series for a while. I just wanted the series to finish airing first before I watch it, but I couldn't wait, and a few of my friends were pushing me to watch it.

I like how it starts out, very classic in the anime world with a few comic touches. It starts out through episodes 1-5 as basically the gathering of the whole crew. The rest just goes on on what they do and on what crazy adventures they have. The comedy is really good, especially if you understand some Japanese culture. It has a very lovable class of characters. It's a very enjoyable series throughout!
