Problems with English Dub 1

I have been thinking about it for a while. English dub really does not compare to the original Japanese dub, so much that it is merely a waste of time. In this section I will discuss one of the main problems of English dub. The problem for this section will be how English dub downgrades the actual anime itself (very important).

Now, the main thing I would like to point out is that some anime are put in America as kid's shows. Pokemon is understandable, even though they did edit a bit much in there (for another section). But how about the anime series like One Piece and Naruto. FACT!!! Naruto and One Piece were not originally for kids. They were for Young Teens. America just steps in and takes these anime series and downgrade them for a younger audience. >.< That is not right. That is a horrible thing to do to a popular TV show, even if it is imported (*ahem* AMERICANS *ahem*).

Even worse, they try to make the dialogue more kid-friendly... Not just "Damn!" to "Dang!". But entire dialogues are being remodified and replaced by horrible puns and punch lines, rather than just say "I'm gonna kick your ass!" or "Die!!!" they say "Hyah! Slice and Dice!" or "I'll snap you in two!". That just keeps the true feeling of anime away from American viewers.

Don't you think that is why most people don't like anime? Most people don't like anime because they think it is childish and stupid, though there are a few exceptions. That is only because they are listening to the English dub, which is not only translating but editing the original words of the original dub of the anime. If people weren't so lazy and could deal with the English subs, there would be more people who would like anime. Japanese dub just shows that most anime are not as dull and stupid as the English dub displayed them to be.

> To people who are interested in anime, I would like to try this little thing. Take the 1st episode of an anime series already in English dub (I would prefer the anime series Code Geass for this.) and listen to its English dub first and then compare it to English subs and Japanese dub.

> For those who can't deal with reading and watching the anime series (*cough* lazy), try comparing the manga series of the anime to the actual anime (I prefer Naruto for this one.) The manga is less edited than the anime and you should see some differences.

That's all for now! Next time, I will talk about which voice actors are better.
